Letlhakaneng

Nako tsa tsotlhe, batho ba mpotse, “Abuti, o tswa kae?” Ga ke kgone go araba ka bonolo.

Batho bale ba lelekisa chelete. Botshelo bo Gauteng ke botshelo bo pele. Ga ba itsa go emela. Diphologolo – dimphala, dibosbok, diphiri – di iphitlha ko meriti. Ke lefatshe le lontle. Ke rata go tlhotlhomisa sekwge se.

Letlhakaneng le nna mo gare. Ba bongwe ba bereka ko difaktori, merafo, le magae tsa Pretoria, Johannesburg le Brits. Fa ke tsamaya ko sekolong, ke abela tsela le batho ba apara diyuniformo tsa ShopRite le batho ba disa dikgomo ko sekgweng. Go tlaletsa go nna mo, fela ke legae la ke.

Ke tla nako ya go ya go bowa legae la America. Go tla thata go tloga Letlhakaneng, fela go tla bonolo go bona gape lelapa la ka ko America. Ke tla gopotsa Letlhakaneng. Ke karolo ya pelo ya ka. Ke tla tlisa kgopolo ya Letlhakaneng mo pelong ya ka ka nako tsotlhe.

  1. Of course, I have no idea what you are saying, but I am impressed that you write this well in your native language.

  2. Google Translator does not have Setswana as an option, but I think there is a typo in the second paragraph.

  3. Wow, I was able to puzzle out just tiny little pieces of this. Seems like a reflection of where home is maybe and where you will be heading off to when July comes?

    • Yes, I’m impressed. The theme is more or less that I have more than one home now. Regardless, I will be returning Stateside in July to attend the post-baccalaureate premedical program at the University of North Carolina Greensboro!
