Dipodi di tsamaya ko sekweng

Animal husbandry is an important part of Reedview’s economy. Indeed, keeping cattle, goats, and chickens is one of a few sustainable industries within rural areas like Reedview.

Herds of goats and cattle spend the day grazing in the bushveld, brought back to the kraal each evening by their modise (shepherd) or by their own matter of habit. The goats seem to have free rein of the yards in the village, driving my host mother crazy when the stray into our yard and eat her flowers.
